Special Edition: The Thermals

The Thermals ripped CenterStage a new one at a sold-out show that brought indie-rock hipsters out in droves. It was an all-out intensity fest onstage, and the crowd movement was nonstop. Of course everyone went bonkers for Pillar Of Salt, almost on cue, but it seemed like every song The Thermals played was a favorite. With a three-song encore it was 57 minutes of pure indie-rock bliss -- lyrically sophisticated, instrumentally raw and utterly bursting with ferocity.
