At the close of the House session today, Rep. Dick Harwood, R-St. Maries, rose to announce that he’d discovered where the fines go for violations of the Idaho Open Meeting Law: “It goes to the press party fund,” Harwood said. Rep. Lynn Luker, R-Boise, responded, “I’d love to see the citation for that in the Idaho Code.” That wasn’t all. During the announcements, Rep. Branden Durst, D-Boise, announced, “The House Freshman Republicans will be holding a fundraiser for the Durst for Idaho campaign at the home of the speaker.” Admission, he said, would be $50.
