The confirmation of Ruthie Johnson of Hayden Lake for another term on the Idaho Human Rights Commission prompted an hour-long debate in the Senate today, the AP reports, after Johnson’s comments about gay rights during her Senate State Affairs Committee confirmation hearing aroused opposition from Senate Democrats. That’s really sad. Poor old Ruthie thinks all gay people dress in drag. Yeah that’s what Idaho needs are ignorant archaic stereotypes to formulate public policy. Next thing you know she’ll demand that Asian Americans all change their names to make it easier on us whiteys.

You know, it’s interesting. If it weren’t for organizations such as the Human Rights Commission, someone 85 years old might have been told they were too old for the job. Fortunately we have protections against age discrimination. Ironic, isn’t it?
