Otter decries fed health reform bills

Idaho Gov. Butch Otter has sent a letter to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi decrying the health care reform bills passed by both houses of Congress, along with the “deal making, arm twisting and the ends-justifying-the-means attitude that we saw throughout the process and recent votes.” The governor says he’ll “explore all my options, including legal action” against the federal legislation should it become law; the House and Senate bills, which differ, now go to conference to determine the final version. That’s funny. John Rusche, who as an administrator for a medical center knows something about this, published a detailed piece the other day talking about how this is going to *save* Idaho money.

According to the Congressional Budget Office the bill passed is revenue neutral and might even save money over the long run.

Ah, but it’s a Democratic bill, so therefore, all the Republican governors are against it, no matter whether it’s going to save their state money or not. What hypocrites!

The federal health care legislation is unconstitution. Nowhere in the Constitution does it give the federal government the power to force the American people to buy a product they do not want.

If you want to live in a socialist/fascist country there are plenty to choose from… pack your bags and go!

That’s really going to be up to the courts to decide.

I just love it when the right starts playing with things they don’t understand, like ‘socialism’, ‘fascism’ or the constitution. They’re like children with toys the box says they’re too young for. Despite centuries of jurisprudence they want to erase the slate and take two.

But forget the lesson in the law. Look at practically. So, if HCR is unconstitutional, then isn’t medicare, medicaid and social security? And if socialism is so bad why do these ‘socialist’ states you deride have better health care for less than half the cost we pay right now? Why do you want insurance companies to continue to siphoning off money from your wallet with you being powerless to stop them?
