Though he’s been actively campaigning since last spring, Vaughn Ward, GOP candidate for the 1st District congressional seat, has scheduled a 14-stop “Official Ward for Congress Announcement Tour” with “Special Guest Secretary Dirk Kempthorne,” starting next Tuesday in Emmett. He’ll hit Meridian, Boise, Bonners Ferry, Sandpoint, Post Falls, Wallace, St. Maries, Moscow, Lewiston, Grangeville, Wilder, Homedale and Caldwell, all by next Friday, including a Tuesday afternoon press conference with Kempthorne and state Superintendent of Schools Tom Luna on the Capitol steps. Ward, an Iraq war veteran and former Kempthorne aide, and state Rep. Raul Labrador, R-Eagle, are vying for a chance to challenge Democratic 1st District Rep. Walt Minnick in November.

Why on earth would he want Dirk to be seen supporting him? Did he want this kiss of neo-con death hung around his neck or was it forced on him? This is worse than showing up to Republican party events with Kirk Sullivan or Otter.
Vaughn, you have assured me you are a conservative, so why are you not surounding yourself only with actual conservatives, instead of career politicos?

LarrySpencer did you not read his bio? Ward is a D.C. insider, nit a conservative, he’s Dirky’s boy and his entire career seems to consist of being paid by the taxpayers of the United States. Has he ever worked in the private sector?

Sure, Vaughn worked in the private sector when he was in high school, on the family farm. Other than that… no private sector experience listed.

Actually vaughn has been with the CIA and active military service.. gee spokelooneh i gues that doesnt count on the work experience … . I wouldnt say he is a DC insider, and regardless of that point, I would much rather send someone to DC that has a clue how the system works than send a person with no idea and have them spend 2 years (hoping) they figure it out. I imagine it is a steep learning curve out there.

Scorecard, by the logic you seem to push our way, Nelson was doing great things when he brought home the bacon for his state.
Idaho Republicans don’t want to send someone who knows how “the system works” because that is how our country got in this mess in the first place.
Idaho wants to send someone who is willing to stand up to the system and refuse to milk it. I don’t see that in Ward, do you?
