Minority members of Senate Ed come out against Luna reform bills
Minority Democrats on the Senate Education Committee have issued a statement opposing SB 1068 and 1069, state Superintendent of Schools Tom Luna's education reform plan. Senate Minority Leader Edgar Malepeai, D-Pocatello, said the plan was "flawed from the beginning" because of the lack of input from students, parents, teachers and others. “In my ten years as a legislator, I have never seen such a spontaneous outpouring of public sentiment in opposition to a proposal as I’ve seen against Tom Luna’s plan to eliminate experienced teachers and increase class sizes,” Malepeai said.
