Denney, Semanko say they want Forrey and Cross as new redistricters…

The Idaho Republican Party says its chairman, Norm Semanko, and House Speaker Lawerence Denney have made their choices for two new redistricting commissioners: Denney's chosen former state lawmaker Bob Forrey of Nampa, and Semanko has chosen Angela Cross of Post Falls. The party also said it's “filed the necessary documents with the Idaho Supreme Court today to ensure that their new commission appointments are recognized and seated when the commission reconvenes;” click below for the Idaho GOP's full statement. The redistricting commission – including the two previous appointees, Dolores Crow of Nampa and Randy Hansen of Twin Falls – is scheduled to reconvene Thursday morning.

Chairman Semanko and Speaker Denney Name New Redistricting Commissioners

Boise, ID – Idaho Republican Party Chairman Norm Semanko and Idaho House Speaker Lawerence Denney announced their appointments to the Idaho Redistricting Commission today. House Speaker Lawerence Denney has appointed Bob Forrey of Nampa and State Chairman Norm Semanko has appointed Angela Cross of Post Falls.

In addition, Chairman Semanko and Speaker Denney filed the necessary documents with the Idaho Supreme Court today to ensure that their new commission appointments are recognized and seated when the commission reconvenes.

The Commission will convene on Thursday, January 26th at 9AM in the Idaho Capitol Building.

Below are short bios of the Commissioners:

Bob Forrey is a former state legislator who served in the Idaho House of Representatives from 1983 to 1987. During his time in the legislature, Bob served on the Education, Revenue and Taxation, Judicial and Rules, and Transportation Committees. Bob has also served as a member of the Boise School Board, the Nampa Highway District Board, as well as serving on the board of the Idaho Home Educators. Bob is a retired U.S. Army Lt. Colonel. Bob and Barbara Forrey have been married for sixty two years; they have four children, ten grandchildren, and twenty-five great grandchildren. 

Angela Cross is a community activist and is deeply involved with the Idaho Republican Party. Angela currently serves on the board of directors of the Cancer and Community Charities based out of Kootenai County, as well as chairs the Festival of Trees event held annually by the Kootenai Medical Center. Angela attended Fullerton College in Fullerton, California, where she majored in interior design, and graduated from St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, Illinois, as a surgical technician. Angela resides in Post Falls and is married to John Cross, who currently serves as Chairman of the Region 1 Republicans and is a member of the Idaho Republican Party’s Executive Committee. John and Angela currently reside in Post Falls, and they have two Children and three Grandchildren.

    North Idaho and Kootenai County in particular would have someone familiar with the awful mess the current commission developed which split Kootenai County unnecessarily. There was no one on the commission anywhere near North Idaho, thus no representation. It was intended to be done in a hurry which it was, quick and dirty.

    The only testimony to the Commission, when they were in CDA, that made the case for constitutional superiority that counties be kept whole rather than weighing in favor of “community interest” was from yours truly.
