The House has voted 68-2 in favor of HB 157, legislation from Rep. John Vander Woude, R-Nampa, to provide a sales tax exemption to non-profit homeless shelters. The exemption would expire in two years, to give lawmakers a chance to review it, and would cover purchases like bedding and food for homeless people housed in the shelters. The only two “no” votes came from Reps. Neil Anderson, R-Blackfoot, and Kathy Sims, R-Coeur d’Alene. The bill now moves to the Senate side.
