Senate Dems decry initiative-limiting bill, call on citizens to contact lawmakers
Senate Democrats have issued a news release decrying SB 1108, the bill to make it tougher to qualify an initiative or referendum measure for the Idaho ballot, which cleared the Senate State Affairs Committee on a party-line vote this morning. “I believe that Idaho’s leaders should work to protect our rights, not limit or diminish them,” said Senate Minority Leader Michelle Stennett, D-Ketchum. “This bill does limit the ability of citizens to repeal bad laws and to make lawmakers and elected officials listen to the will of the people.” You can read the Dems’ full statement here.
