State exchange reports enrollment figures, 24% of 20,000 enrollees are ages 18-34

YourHealthIdaho.org, Idaho's state health insurance exchange, reports today that 19,922 Idahoans have now purchased health insurance plans through the exchange, 48,082 have completed applications, 40,205 have been determined eligible to buy insurance on the exchange, and 26,665 have been found eligible for federal financial assistance to buy insurance. “These numbers show that the marketplace is working for Idaho," said Amy Dowd, YourHealthIdaho executive director; she noted that the number who have selected plans is up by more than 1,000 times from just a month ago. "With three more months of open enrollment left, our work is far from over but I am confident that our efforts will pay off,” she said. Nearly 20,000 Idahoans Have Selected a Health Plan

         

BOISE, Idaho – The latest data released by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services show that the number of Idahoans who have selected a health insurance plan on Your Health Idaho has increased by 1,000-percent from just one month ago.

 

In Idaho, 19,922 Idahoans have selected a health insurance plan from an Idaho carrier.  In addition, 25,828 applications have been completed, representing 48,082 Idahoans eligible to enroll in a Your Health Idaho plan.

 

“These numbers show that the marketplace is working for Idaho.   We are happy to see our efforts to reach Idahoans in every corner of the state are paying off and that Idahoans are finding plans that fit their needs.  We are also seeing that Idahoans of all ages are purchasing their health insurance through Idaho’s state-based exchange,” said Amy Dowd, Your Health Idaho executive director.

 

This latest information released from Health and Human Services shows that Idahoans of all ages groups are buying health insurance on Idaho’s state-based exchange. Idahoans between 55 and 64-years of age have purchased the greatest number of plans totaling 31-percent of health plans selected. Idahoans between 18 and 34-years old have purchased 24-percent of the plans.

 

“I want to thank our more than 800 of our agents, brokers and In-Person Assisters around the state that have worked tirelessly in the past few months to ensure that every Idahoan that wants coverage is able to apply and enroll in a plan. With three more months of open enrollment left, our work is far from over but I am confident that our efforts will pay off,” said Dowd.

Through the Idaho marketplace, tens of thousands of Idaho consumers are accessing the tools and resources made available, including:

 

·       Idaho based Website: YourHealthIdaho.org has had more than 173,625 unique visitors generating more than 814,435 page views.

 

·       Idaho-based call center: The Consumer Resource Center has received more than 10,000 calls from Idahoans and answered more than 600 emails since the start of open enrollment.

·       Anonymous Plan Browsing: Idahoans can anonymously browse high-level health plan information and estimate average monthly premiums of plans sold on Your Health Idaho without creating an account or completing an application.

·       Consumer Connectors, including agents, brokers and In-Person Assisters are available across the state to help Idahoans look for the plan that is right for them and their families.
