Ybarra praises quick action by legislature, governor on school broadband stopgap funding

Idaho state schools Superintendent Sherri Ybarra praised lawmakers and Gov. Butch Otter today for speeding through the stopgap broadband funding for Idaho schools in the wake of the state’s legal and financial debacle over the Idaho Education Network. “I am pleased by the quick actions of the legislature and the governor, to help hold harmless the schools of Idaho, by continuing the IEN, which is vital to Idaho education,” Ybarra said in a statement.

She also praised local school districts for acting quickly to find new broadband service from local providers. “This shows how quickly locally controlled districts can react when given the opportunity,” she said. You can read her full statement here.
