Otter arrives in House for State of State message
Idaho Gov. Butch Otter has arrived in the House chamber for his State of the State message, where he was announced by Senate Majority Leader Bart Davis. Otter began his speech with acknowledgement of his near-100-year-old mom, who is watching by video.
Then, he asked for recognition for two just-retired state officials – longtime Secretary of State Ben Ysursa and two-term state schools Superintendent Tom Luna. “I have seldom been privileged to work so closely with two individuals more devoted to the public interest or more motivated by the better angels of public service than Tom and Ben,” Otter said, praising “their work, their legacy and their friendship.” The two waved from the House gallery.
