Busy day at the Statehouse on this first ‘Idaho Day’…

It’s a busy day at the Statehouse today, with a hearing set for 8 a.m. in the Lincoln Auditorium on the bill to legalize an oil that’s extracted from cannabis to treat children with a severe form of epilepsy; JFAC setting budgets this morning for the judicial branch, the Idaho State Police, the governor’s office and legislative services; the teacher career ladder set for its introductory hearing in the House Education Committee starting at 8:30; a 3 p.m. hearing in the Senate Education Committee on the tiered teacher licensure rule; and much more.

Senate President Pro-Tem Brent Hill and House Speaker Scott Bedke will address the Idaho Press Club at noon; and today is the first “Idaho Day,” with a celebration of the state’s history set for the Lincoln Auditorium from 12:15 to 2 p.m. Some lawmakers are wearing blue today, like the Idaho state flag, to mark Idaho Day, at the suggestion of Rep. Linden Bateman, R-Idaho Falls.
