IEN vendors threaten lawsuits, file multimillion-dollar claims against the state
Here’s a link to my full story at spokesman.com on multimillion-dollar tort claims filed against the state of Idaho by Education Networks of America and CenturyLink, the vendors for the now-defunct Idaho Education Network. They want back payments for high school broadband service they provided from September until last month, when a court issued a final order that the state’s $60 million IEN contract was issued illegally; the tort claims were first reported Thursday by Idaho Education News.
State law prohibits making payments under an illegal contract, so the state Department of Administration stopped paying in September, as legal questions mounted. But ENA and CenturyLink say the contract problems weren’t their fault – they were all the state’s doing. You can read the ENA tort claim here and the CenturyLink tort claim here.
