Here’s a news item from the Associated Press: BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Legislation outlining acceptable telemedicine practices in Idaho is on its way to the governor's desk. The Idaho Senate voted 31-3 to endorse the bill, HB 189, Tuesday evening. The proposal has already passed in the House. According to the bill, Idaho's licensing boards would be in charge of setting their own rules and oversight on what medical services could be accessed via telehealth. Also called telemedicine, the practice allows doctors to consult with patients or review medical records remotely, using a computer or telephone connection. Republican Sen. Lee Heider from Twin Falls says the bill will increase medical access to Idaho's many rural communities that may not have all the necessary services where they live. The three Democratic senators who opposed the legislation argued that they could not sign off on the bill's strict language banning doctors from prescribing abortion-inducing drugs via telehealth.
