Eye On Boise

Season-opener for windsurfing at Lucky Peak a sparkling one…

Back on the water! That’s what this weekend brought me, as I joined other windsurfers and kitesailors for a beautiful, if chilly, sun-kissed morning at Lucky Peak early Saturday. In an uncharacteristic distinction, I was the first one out, after enjoying a serene sunrise, at right.

Sure, the water’s still quite cold; surface temperature is reportedly 50 degrees, but I can testify that it’s considerably colder not much further down. And yeah, a few fingers went numb from time to time. But there’s something about skimming across the cool water for the first time of the season, with rainbows shooting up from the spray behind me, birds flying far overhead, the occasional fish jumping, the occasional sailor doing the same… It was great!

I’ll be at work on Monday, but starting Tuesday will be off on vacation for a week, visiting family. I’ll be back in the office on May 12, in plenty of time before the May 18 special session of the Legislature. And now, I’m in the right mood for it all…
