Idaho gas prices fall, hit lowest level for this date since 2004

Idaho’s average gas price has dropped to $2.26, just five cents above the national average and the lowest price Idahoans have paid on this date since 2004, the AAA reports. “Idahoans have been on a wild rollercoaster ride this year, paying among both the lowest and highest pump prices in the country,” said AAA Idaho spokesman Dave Carlson. “At the moment, Idaho appears to be playing catchup with market fundamentals that have given motorists some of the cheapest pump prices in years.”

Idaho’s average prices at the pump have fallen nearly 50 cents since September. A year ago, Idahoans were paying an average price of $3.22 a gallon, compared to a national average of $2.93.

“Looking ahead, there should be no major upward pressure on pump prices now through mid-February,” Carlson said.
