Obama signs second disaster declaration for Idaho

Here’s a news item from the Associated Press: BOISE, Idaho (AP) — President Barack Obama has signed a second disaster declaration for Idaho and ordered federal aid. The president signed the declaration on Monday due to severe winter storms in December in northern Idaho that closed roads and knocked out power. The money can be used by state and local governments and some private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis to reimburse applicants for emergency work in Benewah, Bonner and Kootenai counties. It's the second disaster declaration the president has signed for Idaho in the last six weeks. A disaster declaration on Dec. 23 provided federal funds for Benewah, Bonner, Boundary, and Kootenai counties and the Coeur d'Alene Tribe. That declaration followed a Nov. 17 windstorm that snapped power poles and toppled trees, knocking out power for tens of thousands of Idahoans.
