Annual Darrington Lecture today focuses on building ‘just, speedy and inexpensive’ courts
The public is invited to the Denton Darrington Annual Lecture on Law and Government, which starts at 5 p.m. today at the Idaho Law & Justice Learning Center, across 6th Street from the state Capitol. This year’s lecture features former Colorado Supreme Court Justice Rebecca Love Kourlis, current executive director of the Institute for the Advancement the American Legal System. Her lecture today is entitled, “Building the Just, Speedy and Inexpensive Civil Courts of Tomorrow: Why We Cannot Afford to Fail.”
The Denton Darrington Annual Lecture on Law and Government is sponsored by University of Idaho College of Law, the Idaho Supreme Court, and the Idaho State Bar and Law Foundation. The lecture series features national, state, and regional speakers to address Idaho citizens, students, and officials from all three branches of government; there’s more info here. Today’s lecture also will be streamed live (click here) so people can listen remotely, courtesy of Idaho Public Television.
At 4 p.m., prior to today’s lecture, there will be a reception and tours of the Idaho Law & Justice Learning Center, the remodeled former Ada County Courthouse and Capitol Annex that now houses both the UI’s Boise law school programs and functions of the Idaho Supreme Court, including the state law library.
