House Education Chairman Reed DeMordaunt, R-Eagle, has announced that he won’t seek re-election after his current term. DeMordaunt is in his third term in the House.

“I came to the Idaho Legislature with a passion for education,” he said in a statement. “I see it as one of the most important investments a state can make in its people and future. It has been rewarding to serve in positions that have allowed me opportunities to reform and improve our educational system for the next generation of Idahoans. I am confident that education will continue to be a focus of our elected officials and look forward to supporting that effort in whatever way I can.”

DeMordaunt said he’s retiring from the House to focus on his work. “I came from the private technology sector, and look forward to renewed focus in that area,” he said. “However, public service will always be important to me. I love Idaho and I will continue to look for ways to serve my fellow Idahoans.”
