Sign-carrying marchers rallied on the Capitol steps after marching from BSU today, in advance of the state’s official commemoration of Martin Luther King Jr./Idaho Human Rights Day. The ceremony, which runs from noon to 1, will feature a proclamation from Lt. Gov. Brad Little; a keynote speech from Keith Anderson, a BSU professor and performer; remarks from Mamie Oliver, Idaho’s first African-American college professor, and Sen. Cherie Buckner-Webb; the national anthem performed by the Boise Gay Men’s Chorus; a musical performance by the Boise Rock School; and posting of the colors by the Mountain Home Air Force Base Honor Guard.
