Crane: ‘We’re so Republican that…’

As the national GOP convention runs through its formal roll call of states to nominate Donald Trump, state Treasurer Ron Crane, who’s chairing Idaho’s delegation, made the announcement for Idaho. Here’s what he said:

“My name is Ron Crane, and I’m from the state of Idaho where we have famous potatoes."  (That drew some titters and one cheer.). "Idaho is the most Republican state in the nation. We are so Republican that when we say the Pledge of Allegiance, it’s to the Republicans for which it stands.” That drew laughter and cheers.

“Our entire congressional delegation is Republican, all of our statewide constitutional officers are Republican, and our Legislature is 80 percent Republican. We are indeed a red state,” Crane said to some applause and hoots.

“We are proud to cast our votes as a result of our primary election, 20 votes for Ted Cruz, and 12 votes for the next president of the United States, Donald J. Trump.” That drew cheers and a chant of “Trump, Trump, Trump.”
