Duff: ‘The convention has spoken’

Mike Duff says he’s “disappointed” that he didn’t win his race for Idaho GOP chairman, but said, “We knew going in it was going to be tough, because there has been some progress … in recovering from the debacle that was Moscow. Realize we only had one direction to go, and that was up.” Duff, who’s made his handlebar mustache something of a trademark for years, sported a mustache sticker on his convention delegate name tag, and some of his supporters did as well.

Duff said, “When I focused on the misuse of the office to get consulting contracts with people and secret society scandal and things like that, it’s because we can do better.”

Duff said the fact that Steve Yates won a second term without a runoff, in his three-way race against Duff and Kathy Sims, means Yates got more than 50 percent. “The convention has spoken,” Duff said, “and we’re going to try to move forward.”
