Rod Beck on why he’s chairing Trump campaign in Idaho…

Rod Beck, outspoken Idaho GOP activist and longtime closed-primary advocate, says he’s the Idaho chairman for the Donald Trump campaign. “I just took everything into consideration, and I think he’s the best candidate,” said Beck, a former Idaho Senate majority leader. “I want the Republican Party to be a broad base when it gets into the general election, and Donald Trump is doing exactly what the grand pooh-bahs of the Republican Party have said for a long time – you’ve got to reach out and expand the base. Donald Trump is doing exactly that. Look at these people here – they’re Donald Trump people.”

Asked what he thought of Mitt Romney’s Idaho robocalls for Marco Rubio, Beck, a former Romney delegate and a fellow LDS church member, said, “I thought it was disgusting. Mitt Romney, he lost an election that he should have won. And so why should we take advice from a loser?”
