New bill would bring school recall, tax elections under Sunshine Law
A late-session bill has surfaced to bring more school elections under the state’s Sunshine Law, Idaho Education News reports. The House State Affairs Committee voted today to introduce legislation proposed by Rep. John McCrostie, D-Garden City, to require sunshine reports for trustee recall campaigns and campaigns for or against school levies and bond issues.
Sen. Mary Souza, R-Coeur d’Alene, pushed for a sweeping bill to extend the sunshine law to all local elections. The Senate State Affairs Committee killed the bill last month. You can read a full report here from EdNews reporter Kevin Richert.
