Idaho Republicans are gathered in force tonight at the Red Lion Riverside Hotel, as they do each election night. Among them: State schools Superintendent Sherri Ybarra, proudly wearing a blue Trump-Pence sticker. Ybarra said she’s been a Trump supporter “since Day 1.”

“I’m so excited, I’m very optimistic,” Ybarra said. “He is much like myself – he’s kind of stepping out, he’s doing his thing, he’s not really owned by anybody and he looks completely different. I’m very optimistic for the future that he’s not going to be status quo.”

Ybarra also said she's especially enjoying tonight's watch party because she's not among those on the ballot; her current term runs for two more years.
