Eye On Boise

CdA metro area ranks as 11th-fastest growing in nation; Boise is 19th

The Coeur d’Alene metro area ranked 11th highest in the nation for population growth from July 1, 2015 to July 1, 2016, according to a new analysis of U.S. Census data from the Idaho Department of Labor; there was a 2.6 percent increase in its population during that year. The Boise city metro area ranked 19th nationally, with 2.3 percent growth.

Those figures came as Idaho’s population continued to show a shift from less-populated to more-populated counties, the department reports; overall, the state’s population grew 1.8 percent to 1,684,140. Six urban counties – Ada, Canyon, Kootenai, Bonneville, Bannock and Twin Falls – accounted for 77 percent of the growth in the state’s population and 65 percent of overall population. Valley County had the highest percentage gain at 4.1 percent.
