Senators eyeing proposals that could change Idaho’s faith healing laws

Four senators who were part of a working group studying child deaths and Idaho’s faith healing exemptions sent a letter to Senate President Pro-Tem Brent Hill on Friday outlining five possibilities for the future of the state’s controversial law, the Twin Falls Times-News reports. Reporter Nathan Brown writes that the options range from doing nothing to removing the religious exemption; you can read his full report here from Saturday’s Times-News.

In Friday’s paper, Brown reported that several proposals are being discussed, after an interim working group of state legislators met and held hearings on the issue. “The goal is, it’s not to punish the parents but to protect the children,” Hill told the Times-News; you can read the full report here.
