House manages to pass its first three bills today without a full reading

The House is back on the floor this morning, and managed to pass its first three bills without any objections from the small group of dissidents who have been demanding full reading on random bills, slowing the process to a halt and preventing the Legislature from adjourning today as planned.

HB 316, presented by Rep. Wendy Horman, R-Idaho Falls, is a trailer appropriation to continue the Public School Funding Formula Interim Committee. With no debate, it passed 65-2; the only dissenters were Reps. Blanksma and Scott.

HB 11aaS, a Senate-amended House bill regarding optometrists, was presented by floor sponsor Rep. Fred Wood, R-Burley. With no debate, it passed on a 45-23 vote.

HB 184aaS, another House bill that had passed but was amended in the Senate, had wording changes that were basically “changing the way we said the same thing,” according to floor sponsor Rep. Jason Monks. With no debate, it passed on a 67-1 vote, with just Rep. Steven Harris dissenting.
