Eye On Boise

Numbers show the legislative action was down slightly this year…

The numbers are in on the 2017 Idaho legislative session, and it saw the second-lowest number of bills pass both houses in the past six years. That figure came in at 347, down from 379 last year; since 2012, only 2012 was lower, at 342. The number of bills, resolutions and memorials introduced was roughly average compared to the past six years.

New legislation prepared during the session was the third-lowest in the past six years, at 785; last year’s figure was 831.

And then there’s the length of the session. At 80 days, it was longer than last year’s 75, shorter than 2015’s 89, and just below the average of the past six years, 81.2. You can see the Legislature’s full semi-final progress report online here.
