Margie Gannon appointed to replace Rep. Paulette Jordan in Idaho House

Acting Governor Brad Little today announced the appointment today of Margie Gannon of St. Maries to the Idaho House of Representatives, to fill the seat vacated by the recent resignation of Plummer Democrat Paulette Jordan, who stepped down to campaign for her party’s gubernatorial nomination. Gannon, who substituted for Jordan last week, was the top choice of the district Democratic Party committee. Its other two nominees were Moscow attorney and mediator Laurene Sorensen and retired Army officer and former Latah County sheriff candidate Barry Johnson.

Little was acting governor today because Gov. Butch Otter was in Washington, D.C., where he and state Insurance Director Dean Cameron will meet Saturday with Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar about Idaho’s plan to allow the sale of health insurance plans in the state that don’t comply with all the requirements of the Affordable Care Act.

Gannon is a member of the St. Maries City Council and previously was a 16-year member of the St. Maries School Board.
