Ahlquist campaign rips health care executive order

Tommy Ahlquist’s campaign is disparaging the executive order issued by Gov. Butch Otter and Lt. Gov. Brad Little today on health care, suggesting it’s a campaign stunt. Here’s the campaign’s statement, from campaign manager David Johnston:

“Sadly, this is just the latest example of Boise’s career politicians trying to win an election campaigning on Idaho taxpayer dollars. Brad Little supported Idaho’s Obamacare exchange, but now says he’s against it. Fascinating. Tommy Ahlquist has been championing this change to Obamacare for months.  It’s another example of how it will take an outsider like Tommy to bring change to the state’s status quo to make Idaho even better. Tommy is not a politician but is a doctor who actually understands healthcare and has a plan that will bring conservative reforms to lower premiums for all Idahoans.”

Note: Though details are sparse about the new plan, Idaho Department of Insurance Director Dean Cameron said it would involve affordable insurance products targeted toward those who currently don’t buy insurance through the state exchange; the exchange and its plans would remain in place.
