Eye On Boise

An update on Charlie…

So many people have been asking me how my husband, Charlie, is doing, that I thought I should post an update. Charlie had a snowboarding accident on Dec. 22 at Brundage, in which he took a tree branch to the abdomen; he suffered a traumatic abdominal wall hernia with internal injuries, and underwent two surgeries at St. Al’s in Boise. He was in the hospital for 15 days, including 9 days in the ICU. I can’t say enough good things about the trauma surgeon, Dr. Parker Fillmore; he was fabulous, and is the reason Charlie only needed two surgeries, rather than the predicted three.

Charlie was released from the hospital on Friday, Jan. 5th, and is now recovering at home. He will make a full recovery over the next 6-8 weeks or so, but it’s a long, slow process. I am extremely grateful for all the love, support, well-wishes, prayers and food!  We were also very blessed to have Charlie’s brothers, Jim and Steve, and our son Mark visit to help Charlie out as I returned to work. We’re headed in the right direction now.
