Clarksville

Weird people I’ve encountered at City Hall

Some men search for power. Others search for gold. Mike Fagan found both at City Hall.

Power came from being elected to the Spokane City Council. Gold came in the form of a medallion honoring his status as a "Proud Member of the 'I've Been Doug Clark-ed Brotherhood.'"

Can't remember what I wrote to win Fagan such an honor. Was it his crusade against near-naked baristas?

No matter.

What counts is that sometime back, the councilman showed me the prize that some of his pals gave him.

The gold medallion came with a fancy red and white ribbon to make it suitable for wearing. Minutes before a Council meeting, Fagan posed with his trophy while I snapped an iPhone photo.

Welcome to Clarksville, Mr. Fagan. We're glad you're here!
