Atlas Shrugged?

Good morning, Netizens...

Holy thudpuckers! There is an invisible line being drawn by cartoonist David Horsey and Atlas in this cartoon that follows very closely behind some of the social theories expounded by Ayn Rand's book, “Atlas Shrugged” isn't there? I was once taught in college that Atlas Shrugged was a lampoon of the Republican Party, which brought howls of delight/anger from various factions of the student body. Ever since that time I have wondered what truths there were, if any, in the professor's suggestion about the book. I always thought it was about the “power of one”, one person's power to stand against public opinion.

On the other hand, in this cartoon David Horsey loads both front-facing guns and takes a pot shot at the Copenhagen Climate Change Conference. Suddenly the vision of the Planet Earth being a bowling ball rolling erratically across the floor of the Universe after Atlas dumps us all comes to mind.

My God, I think it's a direct hit, but of course your thoughts may differ.
