Obama Fingers, anyone?

Good morning, Netizens…

A German fast food company, in hopes of increasing their sales, hit on a new fast food, Obama Fingers with curry sauce. The company, according to the AP piece, says it meant no racist overtones, as it wasn’t aware of any implied racism.

Many sales executives around the world have drawn the same conclusion: What better poster child for hope than US President Barack Obama? There are Obama dolls, Obama T-shirts, Obama soap-on-a-rope. There is even Obama thong underwear.

Sprehe, a German company that has all manner of frozen delicacies for sale, has come up with a new product it states is selling well. The “fingers” in question are tender pieces of chicken breast, coated and fried.

Would you be offended if you encountered “Obama Fingers” in your favorite fast food store?

There will be charges of racism about darn near every criticism of Obama from some people. The race card will be worn out by the time the next election cycle comes around. Politics is the art of generalities, slogans, sound bytes and other meaningless tripe. The race card being turned over every time a criticism occurs is just too tempting for the administration.

I agree with Mr. Husland, and if you ask me the only thing that would offense me in a grocer store like Winco or safeway would be “John McCain’s Famous Chocolate Mole Cookies” or something.

“The race card being turned over every time a criticism occurs is just too tempting for the administration.”

Not that the administration mentioned racism or anything. Would the writer of such a comment by any chance be male… Caucasian… middle aged or older? Just wondering.

“otherism/racism” has become more blatant, while at the same time less acceptable… ie “The boys, and their skinny blond women” are still at it… but more of us are willing, and able to speak up than before.

A person does not have to sit and listen to someone pitch epithets any more… gently “name it” and get up and leave the room….the racism/otherism has a very very high correlation with domestic abuse and violence toward women and children… the corner is being turned…

Whether these “chicken fingers” have any meta message or not is certainly up for debate… the cultural difference may be all that is at work here… but the product DOES come from Germany..

The coments about Ms McCain’s “Weight” are pathognomonic of he approach taken when one is not likely able to argue the facts… “AD Hominem” is spurious and childish… john

Gus, I think Ms. McCain responded to the comment about her weight appropriately when she said, “kiss my fat a—”.

I was raised in a home where my stepfather had a name for every race of people. So I think that might be why I am disgusted when I hear racism spewing from someone’s mouth.

If I am in a room and someone is spewing racism I politely tell them I do not feel that kind off language is appropriate, and leave the room.

If Germany needs a snack food depicting our government they need to make a snack food with a crust made from pure Gold surrounding the soft filing of cow manure.
