North Korea’s government believes it is on a roll. Earlier yesterday it promised it would be enriching uranium in order to make more atomic bombs and that it would declare war on any nation that dares to stop its ships on the high seas.
In 2002, the last time there was a nuclear crisis involving North Korea, there were strong suspicions, especially in the United States, that North Korea already had or was developing a uranium enrichment program, but no evidence of such activity was ever found. Today they all but admitted they have had such a program in place and are building atomic bombs. Great! Now we have another nation, albeit one that is unstable, joining the nuclear fan club and eying its neighbors with plutonium in its armaments.
According to the Associated Press wire, North Korea has also vowed never to give up its nuclear ambitions, for fear that the United States might be contemplating the overthrow of the Kim Jong Il’s government.
There are also fears being made public that North Korea is about to test another nuclear bomb, which could further destabilize relations in the Far East.
Why am I worried? The situation in Korea right now is like a child possessing a box of wooden kitchen matches, a case of dynamite and a short set of fuses. All the child has to do is figure out how to strike a match…
