Good jmorning, Netizens…
In this morning’s David Horsey cartoon we see the Obama steam roller running over the GOP. I am still attempting to understand how the Stimulus Bill was a bipartisan effort, since none of the Republicans voted in favor of it, so Horsey appears to have captured the essential truth in the passage of the bill. Armed with a Democratic majority in the House and Senate, perhaps it is easy to understand how the Obama plan was passed and will be signed into law today.
I do have to admit I was a bit startled at how quickly this 1000-plug page bill was conceived and then ratified. It has to set some kind of speed record for ratification, doesn’t it? That brings to mind the antique adage, “haste makes waste”, The only way to determine whether this is true, unfortunately, requires that we wait around a decade or so to see whether the Stimulus Bill actually effects the change(s) Democrats are suggesting it will do, or, conversely, whether this all will have been a waste of time and resources.
What is at stake if the Obama steamroller fails is far worse than the bruised egos of House and Senate Republicans. I am certain if that happens, the Republicans will remind us of it, and the Democrats will deny any and all responsibility. Based upon my observations, historically speaking, that is the way the Bipartisan efforts in Washington work.
