This Sunday, join The Lands Council for an afternoon of fun and hands-on learning activities focused on nature’s engineer:  The Beaver! This event is suitable for kids of all ages. They willl take you on an easy hike to some infamous beaver dams, making stops along the way for demonstrations and activities including a tree planting. 

But did you answer yes to the headline? Of course you did. They're excited to announce you'll have the opportunity to meet a live beaver. The Lands Council happens to be in the middle of a relocation and they are happy to introduce you their engineering friend.

The event is free and it's this Sunday, September 23rd from 1-4 p.m. at Liberty Lake County Park, 3707 S. Zephyr Rd. More details after the jump.

From the Lands Council: Activity schedule 1:00 - 1:30 p.m. Guests arrive, grab a light snack, and gather for our welcome and introduction. Meet The Lands Council’s very own “Team Beaver,” Amanda and Joe - two established field scientists who work directly work to manage and relocate beaver.

1:35 p.m. The Hike begins! As we start our journey to the great Beaver Dams, ask questions and learn more about Liberty Lake and the surrounding areas.

1:45 p.m. [ARRIVE AT STOP 1] SNAP goes the TRAP! Ever wonder how we trap live beavers in the safest possible way?? Watch and learn as “Team Beaver” gives a demonstration!

2:00 p.m. [ARRIVE AT STOP 2] We’ve reached our destination - the great beaver dams! Hear from BiJay Adams about the affects the dams have had on Liberty Lake and the surrounding forest

. 2:15 p.m. [ARRIVE AT STOP 3] Now that you’ve seen a riparian habitat at the beaver dams, let’s plant some tasty treats for future beavers. Aspen and Cottonwood are a favorite snack for beavers!

2:45 - 4:00 p.m. As we arrive back at the picnic shelter, feel free to grab some more snacks, hang out, our experience our interactive table featuring TLC’s Stream Simulator, our Edible Beaver Dam activity and the Ice Cream Aquifer activity!
