A brief roundup of new Paris coverage

Today's review of coverage about Paris is much shorter, but well worth considering. Stay with me here.

Joel Achenbach, a recent acquaintance of mine who is a reporter for The Washington Post, examines 'soft targets' of terrorism.

A Wall Street Journal piece suggests the Paris attacks undercut Western hopes of containing extremists and notes that a day before the attacks, President Barack Obama sounded an optimistic note about the campaign against Islamic State forces in Iraq and Syria.

The Poynter Institute put together a collection of front pages from Saturday's newspapers in France and the U.S. Warning: a couple of the pages contain graphic photos.

We'll have more coverage in Monday's print edition of The Spokesman-Review. You can see some of it already online.
