Trump campaign denies media access

It is disappointing and insulting that Donald Trump's campaign has chosen to deny media credentials to an African-American journalist who wanted to cover Trump's speech Saturday in Spokane.

Sandra Williams, the editor of The Black Lens, believes the rejection has to do with the name of her paper. The campaign's explanation for denying her credentials is contradictory. The campaign's email to Williams said it must limit the number of media and "give priority to our national and local outlets." If that's the case, then why deny a local outlet?

Elected officials and candidates of all political parties don't hesitate to control the message and media access on a daily basis. No secret there. But to prevent a local newspaper or any news outlet from covering an event that likely will draw thousands of interested citizens is ludicrous and chilling. If Mr. Trump should occupy the White House, should we expect more of this odious treatment?
