Cool Skoolie sighting at Harris Beach State Park

I get pretty excited when spotting a Skoolie, the big yellow buses converted into not-so-tiny homes on wheels.

These sturdy structures have a true following in the RV world. Check out the #skoolie hashtag on Instagram to get a look at some of the incredible DIY makeovers.

This beauty was spotted on our recent trip to Harris Beach State Park near Brookings, Ore., and I must have walked by 20 times to check it out without being too nosy. There were solar panels on the roof and bamboo shades over the windows. The massive bins below looked to be home all sorts of outdoor gear.

Before the pandemic, I might have knocked on the door and asked for a tour. But respecting those social distancing protocols, I simply admired this work of art from afar. No, I don't see myself ever driving one, but they sure look like they'd possibly be the best kind of party bus.
