Issue: Dean's feistiness fires up audience at DNC fall meeting: Chairman slams Bush, tells party to offer voters clear alternative in 2006 races/Dan Balz, Washington Post
More Info: Displaying the fiery style that excited many Democrats during his unsuccessful presidential campaign, Dean attacked "political hacks and cronies" of the president for eroding civil rights and voting rights protections and said of Republicans, "Theirs is a party of self-absorption and selfishness."
Question: Dean's rhetoric fires up hard-core Democrats. But does he cause more harm than good for his party by turning off the middle-of-the-roaders who decide elections?
