Open-Sanders to converge on courthouse

Greetings,

You are likely aware that along with the case to resolve the matter of ownership of Sanders Beach, the City of Coeur d’Alene also filed a motion for preliminary injunction restraining the homeowners along East Lakeshore Drive between 12th and 15th Streets (Homeowners) from interfering with public use of the sand between the seawalls and the lake for the interim while ownership is being determined. The hearing for that motion begins at 9 a.m. Thursday in courtroom #1 (that’s the big courtroom on the 3rd floor of the old courthouse). This is a legal proceeding that’s open to the public (i.e. without public input). We encourage all who support an open-sand status to attend.

As a statement of support, we recommend that “open-sanders” arrive at the courthouse with a beach towel draped over a shoulder. To avoid offending any of the participants in the hearing, just remove the towel upon entering the courtroom and hold it on your lap out of view. Counsel for public access to Sanders Beach both like the idea, but agree that towels shouldn’t be worn into the courtroom.

Don’t let public access to Sanders Beach go the way of footprints in the sand ...
