I see by today's d'Pressing that the school district may seek a $50 million levy for a new school. Hmmm. Let's see. $50 million for a new, improved jail, $50 million for a new school. To paraphrase a quote attributed to the late US Senator Everett Dirksen, "$50 million here, $50 million there, and pretty soon you're talking real money." There must be some magic in the $50 million figure, because it seems to be the figure of choice lately.

DFO: Actually, Bill, I view that banner headline today as the Press's final editorial against the county's proposed half-cent sales tax. What a school district may or may not do next March is a questionable lead story unless The Boss is committed to defeating a proposal with a comparable price tag albeit a different revenue source. At least, you have to give Brand X credit for playing fair with the council wannabes.
