Huckleberries Online

HHospitality Really Wanted Mayor Kunka?*

First, you should know that there are only two registered voters in the city portion of Precinct 61: Jerry J. and Ellen L. Jaeger of 1600 E. Resort Beach Lane. You see, Precinct 61 was all in the county until that little 2004 annexation of the Coeur d'Alene Resort golf course and a coupla other Hagadone Hospitality lakeshore properties brought the Jaegers' home and the monster hacienda along side it (next to the Jewett House) into the city. (For the uninitiated, Jaeger is partners with Duane Hagadone in HHospitality.) Now, onward. In canvassing Precinct 61 for the recent City Council elections, Huckleberries Online noticed that Precinct 61 voted unanimously (2-0) for the following: mayor -- Joe Kunka (pictured); city council -- Mary Souza, Deanna Goodlander and Steven Foxx. Obviously, the registered voters of Precinct 61 didn't pay attention to the endorsements in the Hagadone-owned Coeur d'Alene Press (mayor -- incumbent Sandi Bloem; and city council -- Souza, Goodlander and Woody McEvers). Will this mean a trip to the woodshed? Or is this how the HH powers really feel about the candidates in the election? Inquiring minds want to know.

*HBO is rerunning this from last night because you may have missed it and, well, I happen to like it. Queue up: It's my blog and I'll do what I want.
