Afternoon Question: Teens @ Independence Point
Issue: Shedding light on loitering: City hopes to address complaints of young people hanging out at Independence Point parking lot by adding more light/Tom Greene, Coeur d'Alene Press
DFO: Seems like the city has been moving kids up and down Sherman Avenue since I moved to this area 22 years ago. When I was a reporter under the Ray Stone administration, city officials armed the police with ordinances that enabled them to roust kids from the downtown streets. Now, they're at Independence Point. Part of me wants to shrug and say: The kids need some place to congregate. But another part of me understands that undesireables are mingling with the rest of the kids as well. What to do?
Question: Is this much ado about nothing or a significant problem?
