Huckleberries Online

P.S. — 4/26/06

In 10 minutes, North Idaho College trustees will meet to consider a demand by staff for higher wages and benefits. These include:

*A 5.7% cost-of-living increase.
*The entire week of Thanksgiving off, instead of just the last 3 weekdays of the week.
*Increase the college share of employee insurance premiums.

DFO: I wonder what cloud these guys are walking on? In the real world, no one I know, besides a corporate exec or two, has gotten a cost-of-living raise above 2 percent for some time now. In the real world, you get only Thanksgiving day off. And in the real world you’re paying a higher and higher percentage of your insurance premiums and being forced to accept a higher and higher deductible.

Question: What do you think of the NIC staff demands?
