Question No. 2
Issue: One strike, you're out': Initiative proposes tough punishment for sex offenders/Richard Roesler, Spokesman-Review
DFO: This approach to sex offenders appeals to me. But I wonder if voters will count the cost? One strike and your out will require far more prison beds. It'll also mean that the courts don't have discretion to judge between low-level sex offenders and far more dangerous ones. Then, you have to ask yourself, is there really such a thing as a "low-level sex offender"? As a victim of sex abuse (as a child), I still remember my experience. And I still feel nothing but contempt for the extended family member who got away with it, 50 years ago.
Question: Would you favor a "one strike and you're out" policy?
