HBO — to Dustin Re: Fernan Tower

Dustin: "People keep commenting on how this building will block views.... have you actually looked to see where this building will be? Have you ever been over by the entrance to the Resort Golf Course? All that's there are ugly, run down gas stations and motels. People call this building ugly, but I see it as much more attractive than what's there. There's no way it will block any public viewing of the lake. Not only that, but with the small size of each floor (in the 6000 sf range), this will be a very narrow tower. I know people are afraid of changing CDA for the worse, and I appreciate the beautiful surroundings as much as the next person. People have to realize that growth will happen, and to research these proposals before making knee jerk reactions and saying that they will ruin the city. Would you rather have visitors to the city see this upon entering from the east, or some worn out looking motel and open parking lots? This is a good move for CDA.

DFO: I don't know who Dustin is, but he makes a good point re: the tackiness of what's there now. You could go on to add that a Fernan Tower will prompt other development nearby. Nice defense here. I hope Dustin checks in here more with your ideas.
